Short biography:

Architect, computer artist and researcher using brain-computer interfaces within immersive interactive environments. She creates virtual reality customized software for site specific installations looking for symbiosis among humans and computers. She also designs jewels using new technological tools, such as laser cutting devices to explore titanium hardness ensuing lightness in shape and weight. The titanium jewels, anodized to achieve shades of indigo blue and magenta hues, are complemented with silver and raw stones allowing sculpted curves to unfold in spectacular ways. She has a Ph.D. in Communication and Semiotics at the Catholic University of Sao Paulo. She is vice-president of the Sao Paulo Institute of Mathematics, Art and Technology. She was professor at the Art Institute of the University of Brasilia for 16 years. In 2010-11 was Post Doctoral fellow at School of Communication and Arts of the University of Sao Paulo, with a grant from Sao Paulo Research Foundation, FAPESP. In the course of 1999, she was a Post Doctoral fellow at CaiiA-STAR, UK, with a grant from the Agency for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, CAPES. In 1991/1992/2010/2011 she was Visiting Scholar at the Computer Science Department of The George Washington University, USA. She has been showing and publishing her work in many national and international events, exhibitions, spectacles, published papers, and given many invited talks. She is recipient of many grants, commissions and awards, including a Fulbright grant in 1986, the Prix Moebius in 2001 in China, and the Brazilian Itau Institute Awards and Commissions in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010, among others. Since 2008 she is designer and curator of the EmMeio exhibitions of computer art held at the National Museum of the Republic in Brasilia. She is board member of the AI & Society, and reviser of journals such as Palindrome (UFSC) and Leonardo (MIT). Since 2010 she has been developing site specific robotic and virtual reality installations and spectacles using customized software with BCI (Brain Computer Interface).

Breve biografia:
